Dear Nerge Community,

We hope your Nerge knight came home raving about our Random Dance Party held on Friday!   Our first all school celebration was made possible by students earning blue tickets for their safe, respectful, and responsible behavior and filling the extra-large jar in the main office.  We are already off to a great start working towards filling the second jar!

We look forward to welcoming you to Parent Teacher Conferences this week on Thursday, October 7 and Friday, October 8.  Remember students will be dismissed at 11:40 AM on Thursday and there is no school on Friday.  The Nerge staff is striving for 100% participation from our families so please be sure to sign up for a conference with your child’s teacher using the directions below.

Please see below for Nerge and D54 information and announcements.

Parent Teacher Conferences- October 7-8

School District 54 is now making it easier than ever for families to schedule conferences with teachers. We’ve partnered with “Meet the Teacher” to provide a mobile-friendly and easy-to-use system that creates a simple and streamlined scheduling experience. To login and schedule a conference, please visit and enter the information in the text fields. Please make sure you enter the information that matches the student’s registration. If you have more than one child in District 54, you will only have to use one child’s information to login. The system will show you options for all the students in your household after you login once.
Once you’re in the system, you’ll be able to select your child’s/children’s teacher(s) and your preferred dates and times. If you prefer to have your conference virtually via Zoom, please add a message to the conference when prompted and type in the word “Zoom.”  If you prefer to have an in-person conference, please leave this blank. If you would like to change or delete any scheduled conferences, you can do so by logging in again with the same information. We encourage you to bookmark the website on your phone, tablet, or desktop to review, possibly make changes, and for future parent-teacher conference sessions.
For more detailed information on how to login and navigate the site, please view our guide below. If you have any questions, please call 847-357-5777 or email [email protected].

From the Nurse: Attention Parents of Kindergarten, 6th Grade, and New students

The Illinois School Code requires that all students entering kindergarten, sixth grade, or any student enrolling in an Illinois school for the first time have a complete physical examination by their doctor. The exam must have been administered within one year prior to entering the grade level.

The State of Illinois also requires documentation of immunizations:

  • At all grade levels, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Measles, Rubella, Mumps, Polio, Hepatitis B and Varicella vaccine are required.
  • Tdap is required for 6th grade.
  • Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (1 dose) on or after the 11th birthday is required for 6th grade
  • Documentation of these requirements must be received by the school health office no later than Friday October 15th, 2021

If documentation of these requirements is not received by the above date your child will not be allowed in school.  If you send your child to school on the above date without the missing documentation, you will be called to come to school and pick up your child. Your child will not be allowed to return to school until the requirements are met.
