This year’s Open House rescheduled for March 2, will take on a multicultural theme showcasing the many cultures, countries, languages, and traditions that make our Nerge family so special. It is sure to be an amazing night. The world needs who you were made to be! We hope to see you all there!
Attention Science Fair participants! If you would like to showcase your project, we invite you to bring your science fair poster/project to school on March 2.
Respect Week
Respect Week gives us an opportunity to raise awareness about a number of disabilities. Please join us for Respect Week as a school and D54 community starting today, February 27 through March 3. #choosetoinclude #respectisgroovy
- February 27: Wear Blue and Yellow for Down Syndrome Awareness
- February 28: Wear Purple for Epilepsy Awareness
- March 1: Wear Tie-Die for Autism Awareness
- March 2: Wear Red for Apert/Marfan Syndrome Awareness
- March 3: Wear Teal for Fragile X Syndrome Awareness
IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness)
This year, the English Language Arts and Math Assessment for grades 3-6 will be given at school between March 6th and March 24th. Students in grade 5 will also complete the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) during the same testing window. Here is Nerge’s testing schedule:
Grade 3: March 13-16
Grade 4: March 13-16
Grade 5: March 6-8, March 20-22 (ISA)
Grade 6: March 9-13
March is Happiness Month!
We hope you and your family will join us in celebrating Happiness Month throughout March! Attached below you will find a calendar of daily activities to engage in to practice the 5 happiness tactics: meditation, the doubler (journaling), Fun 15 (exercise, gratitudes, and conscious acts of kindness. Here is what is in store for our knights each week:

- March 3rd: Bring in a flashlight and pillow to use for positive journaling!

- March 10th: Wear Athletic Clothing!
- March 13th-March 17th: Gratitudes
- Share gratitudes throughout the week with loved ones!
- March 20th- March 24th: Conscious Acts of Kindness
- March 24th: Wear bright colors
